The Best Me-Friendly Holiday Destinations
Sometimes you don’t want to travel to see new things or try new food – you just want to head away somewhere relaxing or somewhere beautiful, which is going to make you feel better about yourself and give you a bit of a re-charge in life and outlook.
I think travel is great in that respect. It doesn’t have to be this ground breaking experience (not if we don’t want it to be) sometimes all you need is a nice bit of me-time where you get back to the basics, or pamper yourself with a bit of luxury. Which ever you personally prefer!
Here are a few of my favorite destinations around the world that are perfect for a little bit of me-time and promise to be completely self-indulgent and perfect for those times when you just want some time to yourself, for yourself.
Dubai is a city of lights, always with something happening and something going on – but at the same time this city can be very peaceful. Book a room in one of their beachfront hotels on Jumeriah Beach and you’ll be in a predominantly adult-only environment with butler service (should you request it) a private beach only open to guests (which means you get no pushy sales people approaching you whilst you relax!) and an array of beautiful facilities to enjoy during your stay. The nice thing about Dubai too, is that it’s a city that embraces solo travelers So if you find one morning you fancy a spot of sightseeing or shopping – the city is right on your doorstep welcoming with open arms.
- Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown is a small town in the South Island of New Zealand. It’s known as the adrenaline capital of the world (thanks to it’s huge selection of activities) but it’s also on of the most beautiful places in the world too. We’re talking bright blue glacial lakes, towering mountains and beautiful sunshine (during the summer months). Take a visit there, enjoy the nature and the surroundings and treat yourself to a room with a view you can get lost in. There are plenty of hotels in the town-center and out of the center with incredible views – and you’ll never been a stones throw away from something to do either. The lakefront has it’s own beach to sit and relax on, and there are even botanical gardens to enjoy. But if that doesn’t take your fancy, visit the Onsen Hot Pools, a private thermal pool company with views of rivers and mountains.
- The Maldives
If you want to get away from it all and truly escape the madness of business or family life – then look no further than the Maldives. The Maldives are quite simply paradise, which remote island hotels, blue crystal clear water, and white sandy beaches that stretch into the distance. If you want peace and quiet – and you want to be spoiled for views – then this is where you need to be. Take a book with you and get lost in it’s pages as you lay out in the sunshine all day.
- New York City
For those who like their me-time to be more about shopping and night-life then NYC is probably the ultimate destination for you. You have world-class shopping in NYC – perfect for any garment lover and clothing collector – but you also have an incredible array of restaurant, luxurious hotels and bars to enjoy in the evening too. You won’t feel out of place in NYC either – even for solo travelers seeking some time on their own. You’ll notice in restaurants and bars plenty of others on their own enjoying a drink or too on the roof terrace of their hotel.
